Odd-chip settlement sheet
Record each pot before adding anyone’s receipts. This sheet begins after pot boundaries, eligibility and the two tied winners have been established.
Scope: exactly two tied winners per pot; high-only, single-board Hold’em. Use the event’s adopted rules. This sheet does not evaluate hands or decide a disputed ruling. Leave an unknown award unresolved.
Write on a printed copy, or type in the fields and use your browser’s Print command (Ctrl+P or ⌘P). No information is submitted or saved by this page. The answer key prints on page 2.
Worksheet · page 1 of 2. Every amount is a chip value, not a count of physical chips.
Add receipts only after both pots reconcile. If the winner names differ between pots, total by player name. Receipts include chips each winner previously contributed; they are not net winnings.
Constructed example · Answer key
One denomination change, two different totals
Seats are clockwise A, B, C, D, E; E has the button. A and B are the established tied winners in both pots. A is the first tied winner encountered clockwise after E.
The established 500 main pot has eligible players A, B, C and D. The 900 side pot has eligible players A and B. C and D lose; E folded. The example has no ante, rake or uncalled excess.
One consistent whole-hand contribution record is A 500, B 500, C 100, D 100 and E 200. E’s folded contribution remains in the pots. The article explains how these contributions produce the two pots.
Case 1 · Smallest denomination is 100
Main pot · 500
- Base share each
- 200
- Remainder to A
- 100
- A receives
- 300
- B receives
- 200
Side pot · 900
- Base share each
- 400
- Remainder to A
- 100
- A receives
- 500
- B receives
- 400
Total receipts: A 800 · B 600
Both remainders go to A. Merging the pots before dividing, or alternating the remainders, would wrongly produce 700 each under this rule profile.
Case 2 · A separate setup with a 50 denomination
Keep the same pots, tied winners and button. Change only the smallest denomination still in play to 50.
- Main pot · each receives
- 250
- Side pot · each receives
- 450
- Remainder from either pot
- 0
Total receipts: A 700 · B 700
These pots divide evenly in 50-chip units. This is a counterfactual denomination setup, not permission to change denominations after seeing who wins.
