Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of River: Learn Poker ("River" or "the App"), provided by GTO SOLUTIONS AS ("we," "us," or "our"). They apply only to River; GTO Gecko and each of our other apps have separate terms. By downloading or using River, you agree to these Terms and River's Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you use River on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.

2. What River Provides

River is an educational poker app with interactive lessons, preflop and postflop training exercises, progress tracking, simulated heads-up duels, and an optional AI poker coach called Otto. Some content and higher usage limits require River Premium.

River is a study and training tool. It does not offer real-money poker, wagering, deposits, withdrawals, cash-out, prizes, or anything of monetary value. Results in River do not guarantee results in any real poker game.

3. License and Availability

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use River in accordance with these Terms. Features, content, model providers, and availability may vary by device, platform, region, App version, subscription, or service availability. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue a feature where reasonably necessary, including for security, legal, maintenance, or product reasons.

4. River Premium and Store Purchases

4.1 Subscription access

River Premium unlocks the content and limits shown in the App before purchase. The available monthly or annual plan, price, currency, billing period, and any introductory offer are displayed by Apple or Google before you confirm.

4.2 Billing and renewal

Apple or Google processes your payment under its store terms. A subscription renews automatically at the price and period shown by the store unless you cancel before renewal. You can manage or cancel through your Apple Account or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting River does not cancel a subscription.

4.3 Trials, restoration, and refunds

If the store offers you a trial or introductory price, its eligibility, duration, and renewal terms are shown before confirmation. You may restore an eligible purchase through River. Refund requests and billing disputes are handled by the store that processed the transaction, subject to applicable law and that store's rules.

5. Otto AI Coach

Otto generates explanations from your question and relevant learning context. AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable. Check important information independently and use your own judgment. Otto does not provide financial, gambling, legal, medical, or other professional advice.

Do not submit passwords, payment details, confidential information, sensitive personal data, unlawful content, or content that infringes another person's rights. Do not attempt to bypass model safeguards, quotas, access controls, or reporting systems. You may report an Otto answer for moderation and support; the report is handled as described in River's Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• use River for an unlawful purpose or to facilitate real-money gambling;
• harass others or submit abusive, malicious, deceptive, or infringing content;
• use bots, scripts, scraping, or automated requests to access River or Otto;
• circumvent subscriptions, quotas, regional controls, security controls, or purchase validation;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, copy, extract, redistribute, sell, or commercially exploit River, its lesson content, training data, software, or AI systems except to the limited extent applicable law does not allow that restriction; or
• interfere with River's operation, probe its infrastructure without authorization, or use the App in a way that harms users, providers, or our systems.

7. Intellectual Property and Feedback

River, its software, lessons, exercises, training data, illustrations, brands, and other content are owned by or licensed to GTO SOLUTIONS AS and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.

If you send feedback, suggestions, or an Otto report, you allow us to use that material to operate, support, secure, and improve River without payment to you. You retain ownership of content you submit, and this permission is limited to those purposes.

8. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, River is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every lesson, calculation, solver-backed frequency, EV value, duel result, or AI answer will be error-free. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GTO SOLUTIONS AS and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss arising from River. Our total liability relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for River during the previous 12 months or NOK 1,000.

These limits do not apply where prohibited by law, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, willful misconduct, death, personal injury, or mandatory consumer rights.

10. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using River at any time. We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, unlawful conduct, material breach, or harm to users or our systems. Where appropriate, we will give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Rights and obligations that by their nature should continue—including intellectual property, payment obligations, disclaimers, and liability limits—survive termination.

11. Changes to River or These Terms

We may update these Terms when River, platform requirements, or applicable law changes. The date above identifies the current version. We will communicate material changes where required. If you do not accept an updated version, stop using River and cancel any active subscription before its next renewal.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Bergen, Norway have jurisdiction unless mandatory consumer law allows or requires you to bring a claim elsewhere. If you are a consumer, you retain all non-waivable rights under the law of your country of residence.

13. Platform Terms

Apple's or Google's terms may also apply to the store, device, payment, and distribution services it provides. On Apple platforms, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the extent required by Apple and supplements these River-specific Terms. If a platform term conflicts with these Terms for a service provided by that platform, the platform term controls for that service.

14. General

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We may transfer these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of the relevant business; you may not transfer them without our consent. These Terms and River's Privacy Policy constitute the agreement between you and us concerning River, together with any mandatory platform terms.
